FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A fight in the Tallywood Shopping Center led to a double shooting that killed a bouncer and injured another man early Sunday, Fayetteville police said.

Investigators believe that a fight erupted shortly after the Broad Street Cafe, in the 3100 block of Raeford Road, closed around 2:30 a.m. The disturbance spilled into the parking lot, and an unknown number of people began firing.

One bullet struck a bouncer at the club in the chest, and another hit a club patron in the lower leg, police said.

Witnesses told police the shooter fled in a white car. Officers found the victims lying on the ground in the parking lot when they arrived.

The bouncer was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The club patron suffered a non-life-threatening wound, police said.

The victims' identities haven't been released, pending notification of next of kin.
