Victims of Fayetteville food mart shootings identified

Fayetteville police have released the identities of two men fatally shot at Ya-Ya Food Mart, 3122 Murchison Road, early Saturday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police have released the identities of two men fatally shot at Ya-Ya Food Mart, 3122 Murchison Road, early Saturday.

The owner of Ya-Ya Food Mart, Waheed Abdo Abdulla, 30, of 2770 Graham Road, went outside to break up a disturbance around 1 a.m., and gunfire erupted, police said.

Officers found Abdulla's body lying on the floor inside the business and a second man, Demetrius Deshawn Johnson, 20, of 545 Hilliard Drive, dead in the front passenger seat of a vehicle in front of the business. Police were not able to locate the driver.

Police have not made any arrests and said Monday the investigation was ongoing.
