RALEIGH, N.C. — Thunderstorm warnings and watches are in effect for some North Carolina counties.

WRAL Meteorologist Greg Fishel said there was also some potential for severe weather – with hail and wind gusts – in and around the Triangle Thursday evening but those storms would not be widespread. (View a list of current watches and warnings.)
A warm front will move in from the west Thursday and bring scorching temperatures that will last through the weekend. Highs for Friday and Saturday are forecast to reach nearly 100 degrees in some areas, Fishel said.

Monday and Tuesday are expected to be cooler, with normal temperatures in the low- to mid-80s.
