Amber Alert issued for Statesville boy

Authorities issued a North Carolina Amber Alert late Monday for James Ashley Harris. The 3-year-old child was abducted from Signal Hill Mall in Statesville, police said.

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Authorities issued a North Carolina Amber Alert late Monday for James Ashley Harris. The 3-year-old child was abducted from Signal Hill Mall in Statesville, police said.

Harris is African-American, approximately 3 feet tall and weighs 40 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Harris was last seen wearing a gray and black shirt, blue jeans and a green and gold jacket.

Police said they believe Harris' mother, Kira Leneshia Shaw-Wright, 28, took him from the mall Monday. The boy was there shopping with his grandparents.

Shaw-Wright is described as an African-American woman, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 100 pounds. She has long black hair, brown eyes and a medium skin tone. She was last seen wearing an orange and black skirt and a white jacket.

Harris is believed to be in danger and possibly traveling to Atlanta with Shaw-Wright, police said. No vehicle information was available Monday evening.
