Lillian Dunn, 89, lived in the same white house, with more than a dozen flower beds of red and yellow, from 1953 until arriving at Pinelake Health and Rehab about a year ago.

Initially, Dunn was upset about being in a nursing home, but she recently came to enjoy the company of new friends there.

A retired textile mill worker, her hobbies included quilting, canning fruits and vegetables, and cooking meals for her family.

"She baked the best chocolate pies I've ever eaten," said her daughter-in-law, also named Lillian Dunn.

Family often visited Dunn, who checked into Pinelake after failing to recuperate fully from knee surgery.

Dunn was the window of Archie Dunn. She is survived by three children, and her grandson, Keith Dunn, said she had 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Pine Mountain Friends Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
