MOYOCK, N.C. — A helicopter pilot died Tuesday afternoon when his aircraft crashed on the campus of Xe, the private security and training company formerly known as Blackwater Worldwide.

Camden County Sheriff Tony Perry said a passenger on the helicopter was injured and had been taken to an area hospital.

The helicopter got caught on something and flipped over, a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman said. The crash happened near the company's administrative building at about 1:30 p.m.

A Xe spokeswoman said the crash was the first serious injury in the 11-year history of the company's training facility in Moyock, a tiny community about 30 minutes south of Norfolk, Va.
