Canes freeze ticket prices
To entice people to buy tickets, the Carolina Hurricanes are piling up incentives, including freezing season ticket prices for three years.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — To entice people to buy tickets, the Carolina Hurricanes have piled up incentives, including freezing season ticket prices for three years.
“We need to be as creative as we can be to retain our season-ticket base,” Hurricanes’ Director of Ticket Sales Kyle Prairie said.
The Canes put a three-year freeze on season ticket prices. Season ticket prices range from nearly $1,000 to more than $5,900.
To make paying easier, fans can spread installments over 11-months with zero percent interest.
“It certainly makes it more attractive,” said fan Scott Smith, who attended Friday night’s game at the RBC Center.
A price increase last year raised fan Brad Mann’s tickets by $10 a game.
“Anytime you can freeze the price, it is beneficial,” Mann said.
Prairie said ticket sales are slightly down from last year. Friday night 17,711 people attended the Canes game. When set up for hockey games, the venue seats 18,680.
Other incentives include deals on play-off tickets, vouchers and exchange programs.
Several other NHL teams are enacting a season ticket price freeze. Most of those freezes will last one year.
