RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake Tech students and faculty will only have classes Monday through Thursday during the summer session, which begins May 18, the college announced Friday. Staff will have the option of working four 10-hour days.

The college plans to close most buildings on Fridays and Saturdays as a cost-cutting measure.

"We hope to save $100,000 this summer in utilities, security and housekeeping costs,” Dr. Steve Scott, president of Wake Tech Community College, told WRAL.

Wake Tech said cutting back to a four-day week will not affect the number of classes it offers this summer. The school plans to return to a normal, five-day week in the fall.
