RALEIGH, N.C. — State troopers used a stun gun on a man early Friday after he crashed his SUV, got his arm pinned under the vehicle and resisted arrest. The man had been drinking, they said.

Troopers charged Ryan Travis Blankenship, 21, of 1027 Jones Wynd in Wake Forest, with DWI, careless and reckless driving, and resisting a law enforcement officer.

Blankenship was driving south on Falls of Neuse Road in Raleigh around 2 a.m. when he lost control while going around a curve and flipped his vehicle at least twice, troopers said.

The vehicle skidded on its roof, and Blankenship’s arm became pinned under the vehicle.

Emergency crews were able to free to him, and then he resisted arrest, troopers said. Troopers then used the electronic device on him and took him to the Wake County jail.
