KKK fliers dropped on people's lawns

The fliers from the Ku Klux Klan were found in several yards on Clifford Avenue, Jennings Farm Road and Bristol Drive, police said. Alice Price said her husband found a flier in a blue plastic bag stuffed with old ads and coupons.

"When I started reading, I was shocked," Price said.

The flier lists an address in Arkansas and denounces "Republican and Democratic loud-mouths" amid rhetoric about "racemixers" and "non-white immigration."

"God didn't give me any fear, so it didn't bother me. It didn't make me scared or anything," Price said.

The neighborhood has many African-American residents, but police said it doesn't appear any ethnic group was targeted. They said the fliers contained no overt threats and were distributed randomly.

Gang investigators were looking into the fliers – one officer came through the neighborhood Tuesday to remove the handouts from yards – but police said the only crime committed by the distributor of the fliers was littering.

Price said she thought it was poetic justice that the racist material was found on the same day Barack Obama became the first African-American to be elected president.

"I would tell (the people passing out the fliers) they need to get over it and move on. We're not living in the past. We're in the future," she said.
