CARY, N.C. — Police asked the public's help in solving the suspicious death of Maria Teresa Herrera-Diaz, 29, whose roommates found her dead Saturday morning.

Police said they are not calling the case a murder, but they do want to talk with Herrera-Diaz's common-law husband, Arnulfo Barron Cobos, about 50 years old, who they said they believe stole a 2004 Saturn station wagon from the residence at 102 Dunhagan Place before dawn Saturday.

Cobos was described as being 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 200 pounds. They have a picture of him with a mustache, but said he is believed to have a goatee as well.

The Saturn, a silver L-300, carried North Carolina license tag XWT-5469, police said.

The department "is actively investigating this very sad and suspicious situation," Chief Pat Bazemore said.

Police asked anyone with information related to the incident to contact them at 919-469-4016.
