Former Randy Parton Theatre up For Discussion Again
For the second day in a row, the Roanoke Rapids City Council will discuss the theater once named after Randy Parton.
Posted — UpdatedCity leaders fired Parton and removed his name from the theater after they say he showed up drunk for a show.
Several issues are on the agenda for tonight's meeting, including an audit that reportedly shows thousands of dollars improperly accounted for.
Roanoke Rapids city leaders met with attorneys behind closed doors Monday in Raleigh. They said they want to know how much money they still have to pay Parton. The discussion will continue tonight at city council.
Under the contract with Parton, the city must pay $250,000 a year regardless of whether he performs or not. City officials said they want to come to terms with the singer.
Tonight, the public will get a chance to share its thoughts.
