Police: Victim's husband hit attempted robbery suspect with vehicle
A man used his vehicle to hit another man, whom he believed tried to rob and stab his wife outside a Fayetteville pizza restaurant, police said.
Posted — UpdatedA female customer was smoking a cigarette outside Primo's Pizza on Yadkin Road around 10 p.m. Police said Aaron McLeod attempted to rob and stab her, but she managed to break free and run inside the restaurant.
McLeod ran away from the scene down Horseshoe Road, and the victim's husband, Stanton Moretti Jr., got in his vehicle to pursue him.
Moretti then struck McLeod with his vehicle, police said.
McLeod was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. He was listed in critical condition Saturday afternoon.
Moretti faces one charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
No word was immediately available on whether McLeod will be charged.
