DURHAM, N.C. — A mother and her son were found safe Tuesday in Charlotte, authorities said.

An Amber Alert was issued Monday night for 18-month-old Kevin Evangelisto Reyes-Hernandez.

Durham police believed he and his mother, Doris Reyes, were abducted by her boyfriend, Jose Moran.

Officers were called to the Oaks at Northgate Apartments at 2112 Broad St. at 6:44 p.m. Monday. They were told that Moran had come to her apartment and an argument ensued.

When officers arrived, the apartment door was wide open and the apartment was empty.

Reyes and her son were found safe early Tuesday morning at 4900 Central Ave. in Charlotte, authorities said. The red van they were thought to be traveling in was also found.

Further details about their discovery, including whether or not Moran was also located, have not been released.
