HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — A second man was charged Friday in a November home break-in that left an Orange County woman dead.

Reshaun Cates, 20, of 511 Park Ave. in Durham, has been charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the death of Eva Marie Johnson Jacobs.

Cates had been in the Durham County Jail on unrelated charges.

District Judge Joe Buckner denied bond for Cates, who was given a court-appointed attorney. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 7.

Jacobs died Nov. 26 after she called 911 about a break-in in progress at her Compton Road home in Cedar Grove.

Doné Octavous Johnson, 20, appeared in court Thursday on similar charges. Prosecutors said Johnson stole a shotgun and $300 worth of marijuana from Jacobs' home.
