Autopsy: Toddler Died From Blows to Head, Abdomen

Miracle McLean was unconscious on July 2 when her mother's live-in boyfriend took her to the Anderson Creek Fire Department station. She was pronounced dead at Womack Army Medical Center.

The mother's boyfriend, 24-year-old Antonio Byrd, has been charged with first-degree murder in the toddler's death. Investigators said Byrd claimed the girl drowned.

The autopsy report said she died of blunt force trauma and noted she had received blows to the head and abdomen. The report also said an earlier injury to her shoulder had healed by the time of her death.

Byrd, who was being held without bond in the Harnett County Jail, had lived with Miracle's mother, Sheteka McDougald, in a mobile home near Spring Lake for more than a year before the child's death, according to family members.

Sherron McLean, Miracle's father, lives in Greensboro.

A belt, a bed comforter, an adult T-shirt, a child's plastic belt and a child's pair of pants were among 10 items seized from the mobile home, according to a search warrant.
