N.C. — A burglar's attempt to take some cold brews from a Raleigh convenience store collapsed -- literally -- when he fell through the ceiling.

The Raleigh Police Department released surveillance video taken Oct. 10 showing a man reaching down from the ceiling, through the ceiling tiles, in an attempt to steal alcoholic beverages from the coolers of the Wilco Hess convenience store at 3912 Western Blvd.

During the process, the ceiling fell, sending the suspect to the floor. He then attempted to leave through the door of the store. Unable to open the locked door, he tried to smash his way through the door glass. When that didn’t work, he fled – apparently empty-handed – through a rear exit, setting off the alarm.

The Raleigh Police Department is trying to identify, locate and arrest the burglary, believe to be a white man, about 6 feet tall, weighing about 180 pounds. He may have cuts and bruises around his left eye that resulted from the fall into the store.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department’s Detective Division at (919) 890-3555.
