Mother Says Deputy Pulled Gun on Her, Children

It allegedly happened after Amanda Rollins walked an 8-year-old neighbor home. The child had wanted to go inside and play video games with her children, but she said no.

A short time later, a neighbor spotted the same child trying to climb through Rollins' son's window. Apparently, the child had caused some trouble before, so the neighbor called 911. Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the house.

Rollins explained she lived at the home and showed the deputies her identification. That was when, she said, her 2-year-old and 8-year-old sons walked by.

“The officer pulls his gun on the kids, and he's still shaking the whole time he's doing that,” Rollins said. “He could have slipped up, and I could have gotten killed or seriously hurt or one of my two children that were here."

Investigators told WRAL they are looking into the incident to determine whether the deputy followed proper procedure.

A representative with the Harnett County Sheriff's Office said it is not unusual for deputies to have their weapons drawn when responding to a break-in call with limited information.

Rollins said she believes the two deputies who responded knew the break-in call was about a child.
