RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are looking for the person who shot a grocery store owner to death.

Shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of a shooting at Bobby’s Grocery at 3114 Garner Road.

Upon arrival, the officers found the body of store owner Tariq Hussain. Officers said Hussain, 52, was likely shot during a robbery.

Customers of the neighborhood store were shocked and saddened to hear of Hussain's death.

"He was a good person. He was a nice person and didn't bother nobody,” Betty Griffis said. "It is sad, really sad."

"I am heartbroken because this is ridiculous,” Donnise McLean said. "He is a real nice guy. I just can't see anyone taking his life like that."

Police got a look at the shooter from surveillance cameras inside the store. However, the quality of the video was not good. Customers said the store had been broken into before.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 919-226-CRIME.
Detectives also want to speak with people who were at Bobby’s Grocery prior to the murder. They are asking anyone who was there who has not already spoken with police to call 919-890-3555.
