WILSON, N.C. — A Jeep flipped over on Interstate 95 near the Wilson-Nash County line overnight Saturday, killing two Fort Bragg soldiers and injuring three others.

The accident happened just after 1 a.m. in the northbound lanes near Exit 125.

Sgt. H.L. Cox with the state Highway Patrol said the driver ran off the road on the right shoulder, over-corrected, and flipped the Jeep several times.

Two soldiers ejected from the Jeep were killed. Sgt. Cox said other vehicles struck the soldiers, but it is unclear whether they died on impact or from being run over. It is also unclear whether the passengers were wearing seat belts.

Two injured soldiers were transported to Pitt Memorial Hospital; the other was taken to Wilson Medical Center.

The state Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident to determine whether charges will be filed.

The names of the soldiers have not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
