Nash County Officials Seize $825K in Drugs, Arrest 2

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies, arrested two people Wednesday for allegedly distributing cocaine.

BAILEY — The Nash County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies, arrested two people Wednesday for allegedly distributing cocaine.

Kenneth Rex Whitley and his wife, Gwendolyn Thompson Whitley, of 6501 Frazier Road, were arrested after a four-month investigation by authorities.

Officers said they seized approximately 3,300 grams of cocaine during the course of the investigation. They also seized more than a pound of marijuana, three firearms and approximately $44,000 in U.S. currency.

The estimated street value of the seized narcotics was $825,000, police said.

Kenneth Whitley was being held in the Nash County detention facility on a $5 million secured bond. He faces 43 counts of trafficking cocaine.

Gwendolyn Whitley faces two counts of trafficking cocaine, possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and maintaining a dwelling.

She was being held on a $2 million secured bond.
