DURHAM — Durham police say that someone is targeting daycare centers in a disturbing rash of break-ins.
Since Christmas Eve, there have been five break-ins at four Durham daycare centers. To make it worse, the thieves apparently ransacked each ofbusinesses.
The director of the La Petite Academy on Guess Roadtold WRAL that someone stole $353.20 out of the drop box. A VCR wasstolen, as was a Nintendo 64 system. They also destroyed the day care'sdrop box by using a screwdriver.
The Guess Road day care was hit twice. Burglaries were also reported onNeal Road, Ruby Street, and Highway 54. Anyone with information is askedto call Durham Crimestoppers at919-683-1200.
