RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK — The 1999 Special Olympics World Summer Games is $1 million richer, thanksto one of the Triangle's largest corporations.

Glaxo Wellcome made their large donation Tuesday. They also announcedthat they were encouraging employees to serve as volunteers for the hugeevent.

The Special Olympic World Games will be played in the Triangle inthe summer of 1999. It will be the world's largest sporting event thatyear.

7,000 athletes, 2,000 coaches and 15,000 family members from 150 countrieswill flood the Triangle for the ten-day event, which begins on June 26,1999.
