Their service with Meals on Wheels comes from the heart, but it's alsopart of Taylor's education.
Susan Harris teaches her daughter Taylor at home, though some of hereducation takes place on the road. Once a week, teacher and studentvolunteer for Meals on Wheels.
An attitude of community service, along with their diligence, earnedthem the honor this month from Governor Jim Hunt.
Taylor says the work with Meals on Wheels is her favorite part of theschool week.
Though it's a part of her schooling, Taylor says she doesn't do it fora grade. She does it to help others.
One thing both have learned is that more people need to includevolunteer service as part of their education in life.
Taylor says she feels like what she does is what her religion tells herto do.
Though it's easier with their homeschool schedule to do volunteerwork, Susan Harris says most traditional schools make accomodations forchildren to do volunteer work with their parents.
