RALEIGH — Some IBM workers in Charlotte are lookingfor new jobs. The company laid off hundreds of employees effectiveTuesday in a cost-cutting move.
IBM had offered a job buyout program hoping to ward off the cutbacks,but not enough people took advantage of it.
Workers at the Research Triangle Park facility have until Wednesday todecide whether to accept their buyout package. If too many people refusehere, IBM will lay off more workers.
The company says people who lose their jobs will get sixty days noticeand benefits.
