Police Surround Home, Hispanic Crime Suspect...

DURHAM — An eight hour stand-off at a Durham apartment complex came to a peacefulend Monday night, after officers and SWAT team members captured the lastof five suspects wanted in connection with crimes targeting the Hispaniccommunity in the Bull City.

Eric Lamont Perry ,18, faces 32 charges, including rape, robbery, andbreaking and entering. Officers received a tip Monday that Perry wasinside a third floor apartment between Jackson and West Chapel HillStreets.

Going on that information, more than two dozen officers roped off thearea around 1:00 p.m. It was shortly after 8:00 p.m. that Perry was takenout of the apartment in a noisy raid by SWAT officials.

Using tear gas and low-powered grenades, officers made their entrance intothe apartment. Perry was found hiding inside the attic. He was takenaway from the scene, unarmed and without incident, covered in insulation.

Police said Perry did not live in the apartment where he was found. He isexpected in court Tuesday.

Perry is the last of five young men to be arrested in connection with therash of crimes. Police arrested 22-year-old Romone Miles and Taqiyy Coleyearly Halloween day. They're each charged with 18 counts of burglary witha deadly weapon, and 18 counts of kidnapping.

James Daye turned himself in November 3rd. Two days later, ChrisThompson turned himself in to police. All five of the suspects arebeing held in the Durham County jail.
