BUIES CREEK — A solemn atmosphere permeates the halls atCampbell University. A 19-year-old wrestler died there Friday morning ofan apparent heart attack.
Police say Billy Jack Saylor, was working out with an assistant coach and another student early Friday just before Saylor collapsed. Theysay he was trying to lose weight for an upcoming match at West Point. Thatmatch has now been cancelled.
A Campbell spokesperson says Saylor was from Wellborn, Fla. and that,as far as anyone at the school knew, had no history of heart problems.They say it is not unusual for wrestlers to work out just before a meet.
A memorial service has been scheduled for next Thursday at 11 a.m.
A medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the exact causeof death.
