Cumberland County Crowns Its New Coliseum

FAYETTEVILLE — The Crown Coliseum had its grand opening Thursday night as Fayetteville'snew minor league hockey team took the ice.

The fans were into the game all night as the Fayetteville Force took onNashville on the opening night of the Crown Coliseum. WRAL'sRick Gallsaid itwas a night to remember.

People lined up early Thursday night for the milestone in Fayetteville history. After seven years and $55 million, it was time to show off theCrown. Cumberland County's new coliseum isn't quite finished yet, butpeople said they liked what they saw.

The evening began with a ribbon cutting and a lot of pats on the back.Then, the Fayetteville Force took the ice. The players dished out manyhard hits and the fans loved it, but not as much as they loved the goals.

The official attendance wasn't anywhere near a sell-out, but 4,000 werein attendance for the opening.
