ANGIER — It's been almost two months and there are stillno arrests in the murder of a Harnett County man.

Now, friends of the victim are asking for help by way of newspaperads.

In August, 45-year-old Jesse Noble's life came to an end. He wasstabbed and beaten to death in his home.

Noble was a cashier at P.J.'s Community Grocery and Grill, where he waswell-liked by the regular customers. They said he sometimes loaned themmoney to cover their purchases when they came up short at the register, and joked with them as well.

His body was found in his Rt. 3 home by a co-worker, who becamesuspicious when Noble did not show up for his routine 5 a.m. shift. Policesaid Noble was found with a head injury and stab wounds. There had beenno sign of forced entry.

The murder left his friends grappling for answers, especially to thequestion of who did it. One lifelong friend, who does not wish to beidentified, said she was horrified thatsomeone would do this to a person she characterizes as "a nice guy."

Because police had few leads to go on, Noble's friends decidedto get involved. They took out an ad that has a reply section attachedto it. The ad urges anyone who knows who killed Noble to print the nameon the form and to mail it to the address that's listed. Noble's friendsaid she hopes for a response.

The ads ran last week and will run again this week in both the AngierIndependent and the Southside Shopper.

Noble's friends hope their efforts will lead to something thatcan help officers find the person or persons responsible. They said theyare looking for justice for a brutal act.
