Mother's Body Found in Car Trunk

RALEIGH — The body of a Weaverville woman was found in acar trunk in northern Wake County Saturday night. Her 29-year-old son hasbeen charged in her slaying.

Officials said Joan V. Hines, 54, was found in the trunk of her 1996green Volvo. Her son, Brady Hines, 29, had been in Wake County at least 24 hours and was visiting friends near Honeycutt Road.

Maj. Danny Bellamy of the Wake County Sheriff's Office said the murderapparently occurred in Weaverville, a town north of Asheville. The bodyhad been transported to Raleigh, where it was discovered in the vehicleparked at 508 Woodwind Court.

Mrs. Hines body was found wrapped in a blanket. Officials declined todescribe the wounds found on her body. An autopsy will be performed todetermine cause and time of death.

Her son is being held without bond at Wake County jail.
