Toddler Recovering from Gunshot

FAYETTEVILLE — Three-year-old Jeremy Culliver ofFayetteville was in fair condition Saturday afternoon, after being shot inthe face.Doctors are dealing with both a bullet and a screw that lodged in his head.

Officers say Jeremy's 6-year-old brother got hold of a gun that apparentlybelongs to a man who was staying at the Rochester Drive home where theshooting occurred.

The brothers were spending time at their aunt's house, while theirmother was working. Police are trying to determine how the boy got hishands on the weapon.

Jeremy was hit in the face about 8 p.m. Friday. Officers said thetwo-inch-long screw was inserted into the barrel of the gun.

Police say the owner of the gun took off with the weapon after theshooting; he is now being sought.
