DURHAM — The trucker charged with killing 8 people in last summer's accident onI-85 says he's not at fault.
Esau Dixon took the stand in his manslaughter trial in Durham today.He claims a van from Umstead State Hospital cut in front of him.Dixon says it happened too fast and he had no way out.
After he saw the van, he says applied his breaks "very hard." Secondslater, Dixon says he slammed into the van.Most of the victims were in the van Dixon hit.
His trial continues Tuesday.
