New Business School Opens at UNC

The new Kenan-Flagler Business School
CHAPEL HILL — UNC-Chapel Hill is growing with a new business school. The newKenan-Flagler Business School is housed in a 44 million-dollar buildingthat took three years to build and it comes with all the bells andwhistles of modern technology.

The dedication of the new building sparked a celebratory atmosphere at UNC. Alan Greenspan came to Chapel Hill to cut the ribbon for the buildingthat will allow 1300 students to study the ins and outs of businesseducation in a technology intensive environment.

University leaders said they hope the new business school and the newfacility will place the business program at UNC among the top in thecountry.

Mary Elizabeth Johnson, an MBA student, said the new technology willenable students to have better communication with the business world.

Students and faculty said the new technology will be instrumental ineducating and recruiting students for the business program. The newtechnology features two-way video conferencing, global hook-ups and 2800Internet connections.

Students can take their laptops into the building and tap into theInternet from almost anywhere, helping them further their education anduse resources from around the world.
