Train Hits Car Carrying Mother, 2 Children
A train hit a car driven by a mother who had just picked up her two children from day care Monday afternoon, Princeton police said.

PRINCETON, N.C. — A CSX train clipped the back of the car driven by a mother who had just picked up her two children from day care Monday afternoon, according to the Princeton Police Department.
The mother, Carli Gray, 26, was taken to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill with non-life-threatening injuries to the head, leg and arm, authorities said. Family members said they suffered from broken bones.
The children, ages 2 and 7, were in their car seats at the time. Police said they were scared but did not suffer from any apparent serious injuries. They were taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital.
All three were listed at WakeMed Tuesday. Gray was in fair condition Tuesday morning; the two children were listed in good condition.
The accident happened shortly before 4 p.m at the railroad crossing near Barden and West Edwards streets.
The train pushed Gray's car 70 feet down the tracks and then knocked it into a ditch, authorities said.
Police said there are no railroad crossing arms at the accident site, which is on the crest of the hill.
Gray told authorities she never heard or saw the train. There was a heavy downpour at the time, police said.
