Lance fought his own battle against cancer this year. He's not just hereto ride. He's here to prove cancer survivors are still in the race oflife.
"I never really think of myself as an inspiration," admits Armstrong."But I think there are people who care and are concerned about my health. That kind of following and that kind of support is what heals a person, Ithink."
Healing people is what all of the Jimmy V. events are about. Lance rodein Raleigh's Tour du Pont last year. Not long after that race, he wasdiagnosed with testicular cancer. He battled back. Armstrong says it'san honor to ride in the cycling classic.
"To ride for the fight against cancer is obviously a personal one for me,"says Armstrong. "It is a perfect fit that we all ride bikes, and we areall working for Jimmy V., his foundation and the fight against cancer."
It's a fight Lance will face for years to come. But for now he will dowhat he loves most-- ride.
