Hunt to View I-40 Damage

Posted Updated

WATERVILLE — Gov. Jim Hunt is heading west to inspect the rockslide damage on Interstate-40.

He will tour the section of I-40 damaged after rock spills lastmonth. It's still shut down and traffic has been re-routed.

Two people died this weekend, in separate accidents on the detour road.

Area businesses say they'll be glad when that section of I-40 is openagain. Since it was shut down, they've been losing customers.

One estimate says it could be as late as October before the interstateis open again.
