The Fayetteville-Cumberland County Crimestoppers program started a newsystem on Friday to get those illegal guns off the street. It's calledB.I.G.G. -- Bring In Gangsters and Guns. Crimestoppers president JohnMalzone says that the program gives the public a safe, anonymous way to help cops clean up the streets.
The public is encouraged to report people who illegally own a gun. Ifa citizen's report leads to an arrest, the tipster will pick up $200.
Knowing that a suspect may be armed will be a big help toofficers,according to Officer Wayne Burgess of the Fayetteville Police Department.
If you know of someone who carries a gun illegally, you can callFayetteville Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS. Remember, if an arrest ismade, you get a $200 reward.
