Cary Dog Known as Parkway Dies En Route to SPCA

CARY — After weeks of controversy over the fate of astray dog, Cary officials announced today that the animal died on the wayto the SPCA. The dog, which had been nicknamed Parkway by arearesidents, became the subject of a dispute when Cary police announced theywould shoot her because of the danger she might catch and spread rabies.

Police captured the chow dog early Wednesday evening after they managedto tranquilize her. On the way to the SPCA, the dog began to have seizuresand died prior to arrival.

Parkway's remains will be released to Torry Green who fed the dog for16 months and took in one of Parkway's puppies.
