High Water Floods Moore County Roads

There are 11 roads closed in Moore County because of flooding.
ROBBINS — Most of us wanted the rain, but some are learning to be careful what they wish for. Many places have gotten toomuch of a good thing. In Moore County the rain has flooded many roads.

Residents of Robbins say they got more than enough rain Tuesday night.When it started to rain again Wednesday, most people weren't happy aboutit. By Wednesday evening, 11 roads were closed due to flooding.

The small town is known for its friendly people and a thriving downtownarea. Wednesday, however, it was the water everyone was talking about.Resident John Needham said he'd seen flooding before, but not like this.

Parts of Moore County got about 9 inches of rain. One corn field wasflattened by the downpour. The rain came down so hard and fast that nineroads were closed early on. UPS driver Rodney Mabe says that's made hisjob considerably more difficult.

As long as the area has been waiting for rain, it seems this downpourhas been too much too late. Mabe says the town can't take much more.

Emergency management officials are urging people who must be out on theroads to be very cautious. Drivers should be alert for flooding and areasked to call 9-1-1 to report any flooding on roads that have not alreadybeen closed.
