Raleigh Police Arrest Suspect in Connection With Two Shootings

RALEIGH — Raleigh Police have arrested the man they believe killed a 15-year-old Raleigh girl. Police say William Burford, 23,walked in to police headquarters around 1 p.m.Monday and turned himselfin.

Burford is charged with one count of first degree murder in connectionwith the shooting death of 15-year-old Arthesia Necole Jones. Herbody was found in an East Street apartment Saturday morning. Burford alsofaces one count of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with thewounding of a man two days earlier.

Police say they had just received a tip about Burford's whereaboutswhen he walked in. They say they had received many calls about him sincethey announced they were looking for him.
