Bus Passengers Who Attacked Alleged Hijacker say They Acted in Self Defense

CHARLOTTE — Passengers who were on board a hijackedGreyhound bus say they acted only in self defense when attacking thehijacker.

The man police say hijacked the bus was killed Saturday morning inCharlotte when the driver and passengers overpowered him.Police haven't said how the alleged hijacker died, but some passengers sayhe was strangled.

The man reportedly pulled out a knife while on the bus, startedrambling about the movie "Speed", then took passengers on a 60 mileride. The driver finally ran the bus off the road, catching the manoff-guard. That's when police say he was attacked.
