RALEIGH — It looks like a big tangled mess of wires, towers and electronic gadgets. And it is. But ham radio operators say this is their favorite weekend ofthe year.
Here and across the country, operators set up transmitter stations to goon the air for 24 hours straight. Each station tries to contact as manyothers as it can using Morse code, digital transmission, and evensatellite links. It's a tradition 64 years old today.
