Young Vets Scrub In for NCSU Camp

RALEIGH — Some young animal lovers are getting a head start on their careers at theNC State School of Veterinary Medicine. Rising sixth graders, speciallyselected from all over the state, are attending the Summer VeterinaryWorkshop.

The aspiring animal doctors are learning everything from scrubbing up toultrasound technology. One of the young vets says she's going to use theexperience to become a "people" doctor.

Sarah Miller realizes people won't like it if she hurts them. She says ifshe does, they will get mad then she will lose money being sued.

The young students are staying on campus for the week. They'll head forthe NC Zoological Park Thursday. NC State is the only school in thecountry that starts veterinary training at such a young age.
