CARY — A lake in Cary is full of sewage and police say vandals are to blame.

More than 500,000 gallons of raw sewage backed up into a lake in theLochmere Highlands subdivision. Investigators say vandals threw largerocks and wood into a nearby manhole causing the sewage overflow.

Local resident Richard Williams says the incident is a shame. The lake issomething the kids use for fishing and boating. The adults enjoy walkingand running around it. It's a sad thing to see happen to a neighborhoodlike Lochmere.

Crews will work through the weekend to flush out the lake. They will testthe water on Monday. So far, police don't have any suspects.
