FAYETTEVILLE — A Cumberland County elementary schoolprincipal spent Thursday night on the school roof, kept company by a school board member.
The two men were making good on a challenge they had presented toLonghill Elementary students earlier this year. They challenged thestudents to earn 21,000 reading-points, and said they would spend a night under the stars if the students reached their goal. The students gotpoints for every book they read.
Longhill only has about 400 students, so they had to do quite a bit of reading in order to reach the goal. The students seemed quiteentertained by the comically-clad officials atop their school.
