Firefighter Injured Battling Home Fire in...

CARRBORO — A Carrboro firefighter was burnedover nearly halfhis body battling the third fire since Sunday at the same Orange Countyhome on South Fordham Blvd.

Federal authorities are joining in the investigation of theblaze.

Officials identified the firefighter as Robbie Crabtree. ChiefMark Rigsbee said Crabtree fell through a floor of the home earlythis morning. Riggsbee said it is very unusual to have three fires in oneweek at the same site. He said the house was in good shape whenfirefighters left it after Thursday's fire.

Two other firefighters suffered minor injuries rescuingCrabtree.

Fires also occurred at the residence Sunday and yesterday. Thefire Sunday caused minor damage, but the one yesterday destroyedthe home.

The State Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist localofficials in determining what happened.

Crabtree suffered burns over 45 percent of his body and is said to bein serious condition.
