Counselor Charged with Sexual Assault

FAYETTEVILLE — His job is to counsel kids in trouble with the law. Now he's the one introuble. An employee with the State Juvenile Services Division faces foursex charges involving a minor.

Fayetteville police say Michael McDonald had sex with a 14-year-old boyback in January. Among the charges he faces-- participating inprostitution. Investigators say McDonald paid five dollars for the sex.WRAL Reporter Rick Gall was told the teen was not one of the courtcounselors clients. Based on arrest papers, it appears he's fromMcDonald's neighborhood.

Twenty-eight-year-old Michael McDonald of Fayetteville is supposed to helpjuvenile delinquents get back on the right track, instead he himself isbehind bars. Since last August, McDonald has worked in the CumberlandCounty Courthouse as a juvenile counselor. His name is still on the boardin the office, although he's been suspended.

McDonald's neighbors say they've seen men going in and out of his house,but never a kid. One neighbor even went so far as to express shock overthe arrest. Jerome Farmer said the news comes as a surprise becauseMcDonald lived in the community.

McDonald is now in the Cumberland County Jail being held on $50,000secured bond. Police are still investigating, but at this point, there'sno indication there is more than one victim.
