School Board to Vote on Local Funding

FAYETTEVILLE — The Cumberland County school board may be looking for a lot more helpnext school year from local taxpayers.

A proposed budget, to be voted on tonight, calls for an extra six and ahalf million dollars in local funding. That's an 18-percent increase.

Administrators say they need the money for 80 new teaching positions andsalary increases. After tonight's vote, the budget goes before the countycommissioners.
