Halifax Schools Ask for Help from Parents in Drug Battle

ROANOKE RAPIDS — School leaders in Roanoke Rapids saythey need help from parents to keep prescription drugs out of theclassroom.

An attempt to get high sent three Chaloner Middle School students tothe hospital a few days ago. School officials say the students took Xanax,a prescription drug used in treating anxiety and panic disorders.

School Superintendent Jane Burke says the schools can't fight thisbattle without help from parents.

At least one of the students reportedly brought the drugs from home.
