CARY — An engineer's discovery has closed a section of a major road innorthern Cary.
The section, on Davis Drive, just south of Morrisville Carpenter Roadto Morrisville Parkway, wasclosed Monday for emergency bridge replacement. Weather permitting, theN.C. Department of Transportation plans to reopen the road on Wednesday,May 14.
The bridge replacement begins after an NCDOT engineer foundcracks in manyof the joists under the bridge during an inspection. The bridge wasorginally scheduled to be replaced this summer, but the construction wasmoved up.
NCDOT officials urge motorists to find alternate routes during the nextweek and to stay alert while driving in the work zone.
